Blocked, not broken

Erick has been actively applying to jobs but hasn’t heard back. After being evicted, he lost his home and most of his belongings, which eventually led him to the streets. During that time, his identity was stolen, preventing him from getting a fingerprint card — a barrier that’s made finding work even harder.

Erick has been out of work for seven months. He’s had a few interviews, but each time he’s been told they found someone “more qualified.” Still, he’s determined to work and rebuild.

His story is a reminder of how easily setbacks can compound — and how difficult it can be to move forward without access, stability, or support.
